Now the mount has been "slewed" so that it is pointing at zenith. This is useful for three main reasons. It shows how close the OTA comes to the RA motor housing, how close it comes to the top of a pier leg and how high the eyepiece level is. The top of the OTA is 67-3/8" from the ground, as drawn. Adding the adjustable feet and measuring down from the top end of the OTA to the focuser equals roughly the same 67" figure. The pier legs are shown in their lowered position because even at this lowered height, there is still plenty of clearance between the bottom of the OTA and the top of a given pier leg. Thus the 30" central pier should be made shorter, possibly to a 25" tall pier.
